First impressions:
- GNOME desktop is quite nice
- An overwhelming number of applications are installed by default
- Everything runs slightly slower than in Windows, which is the opposite to what I was expecting
- It took a few hours to get my wireless connection to work :(
- You have to type in the root password a lot, which makes having an insecure one a tempting proposition
- Installing things always requires reading verbose README files. often involves manually editing config files and in one case editing source code!
